If you apply to more than three internship profiles, your application will not be considered for any profile.** Note that you may withdraw your candidature at any time via the Jobs Applied section of your profile.

It is highly recommended that you submit your application as soon as possible to avoid last minute technical issues or delays. Late applications will not be considered.

Department

The position is located in the Cooperatives Unit (COOP) within the Enterprises Department (ENTERPRISES).  ENTERPRISES contributes to the overall ILO mission of creating decent work for all through the promotion of sustainable enterprises of all types and sizes. COOP is responsible for ILO activities on cooperatives and wider social and solidarity economy (SSE). It works to harness the positive impact of SSE entities in advancing social justice and decent work.
The Unit serves the ILO constituents on the SSE using a three-pronged strategy as follows: advancing the SSE, as an economically, socially and environmentally responsible and viable option; encouraging the integration of decent work and social justice as a priority in the SSE entities; and ensuring that specificities of SSE entities are recognized in analysis, policy, and actions toward achieving decent work, and sustainable development.
The 110th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in June 2022 held a general discussion on decent work and the social and solidarity economy. The general discussion led to the adoption of a resolution concerning decent work and the SSE. In follow up to the ILC, the Office developed a seven-year Office-wide Strategy and Action Plan (SAP) on Decent Work and the SSE to give effect to the resolution. The SAP was presented at and adopted by the 346th Governing Body. Its implementation is coordinated by COOP and will guide the work of the Unit from 2023-29.
Toward that end, the intern will be based in Geneva within COOP, working closely under the guidance of a senior specialist with the COOP team, working with other units in Enterprises Department, field offices and HQ departments, assisting on the monitoring and evaluation of the activities and outputs under the ILO’s action plan on decent work and the SSE.
